Senior Companion Project to begin friendly call program

The Senior Companion Project began matching seniors with volunteers for the friendly phone call program after COVID-19 prevented both volunteers and seniors to meet in person.

Andrea Avis, coordinator of the Senior Companion Project, said the friendly phone call program is to alleviate some people’s feeling of loneliness and isolation who are living in their own homes.

Sun sets on Rainy Lake Market

The Rainy Lake Market season has come to an end with the last day taking place on Thursday Sept. 24.

Christine McGoldrick, economic development officer intern at the Rainy River Future Development Corporation (RRFDC), said the market started off with three or four vendors before having 16 to 20 vendors when traffic picked up.
